Description:MPR is actively seeking talented junior and senior engineering students in mechanical, civil, chemical, biomedical and electrical programs for paid engineering co-op positions. Positions are available in our Alexandria, VA headquarters office, as well as several of our branch offices in the U.S. MPR's co-op positions provide candidates with opportunities to support projects related to power generating systems, renewable energy, industrial equipment, medical product development and instrumentation and control systems.

Product Development Co-Op Engineer - This candidate will support projects related to medical product development. Tasks will include circuit board design, software programming, and prototyping and testing of circuit boards and systems. Co-Ops will work in small cross functional team with senior engineers to develop circuit designs, bring up circuit boards, write firmware to test circuit boards, and test PCBs and systems. This work includes working on medical systems and working on mobile health platforms which include iOS and Android mobile devices.

Co-ops will work collaboratively on engineering teams as well as independently to produce high quality technical work products.

Relevant Skills

Successful candidates will possess a strong academic record (at least a 3.4 gpa) and be highly motivated self-starters with good attention to detail. In addition, successful candidates will have the following skills and capabilities:
  • Advanced computer skills preferred, including Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), analysis programs such as MATLAB, and design programs such as SolidWorks
  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to problem solve
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with all levels of the organization
  • Follow through with all tasks and assignments in a timely manner
  • Attention to detail
